When Julius Caesar, still just a general at the age of 33, came upon a shrine of Alexander the Great he wept and lamented because the young Macedonian had conquered the half the world by his age.
Similarly, I am 30 and am distraught to learn that by 28 Jeffrey Epstein was already riding in private helicopters to the Pentagon with the world’s largest arms dealer, Douglas Lease.
We all stand in the shadow of giants. But neither Alexander nor Jeffrey had a substack….
What’s in a name:
This blog has undergone a new christening! The old blog’s name “On second thought” and the URL “apropos of nothing” were far too snooty and pretentious. Welcome to “Big If True” a blog that’s fun and hip and relaxed, just like me (I’m also very handsome and smell good). The new name hits the perfect chord of fun, conspiracy fueled, schizo-posting that I strive for weekly.
Also there have been a dearth of Fragments posts lately - this is just because more recent pieces have not been fragmentary but more centrally themed and continuous. I think I have 1-2 more cogent pieces to get out over the next couple of weeks then I’ll return to the stream-of-consciousness logorrhea.
Hunter Biden Redux:
I got some flack from my BlueAnon friends about my recent post on Hunter Biden. But let me be clear the post is in no way meant to be an indictment of the Biden family. I actually like Hunter - when I first met him in person we talked philosophy for hours while doing lines together in the back of a strip club on Chambers street. He’s a super chill dude and like a brother to me.
Further the piece is not an endorsement of Trump! I would never never ever vote for Trump. He’s big and scary (and fat) and super duper super racist. (There are abundant randomized controlled trials demonstrating that racism leads directly to climate change!) Further, though I’ve never met him, once in a hot tub at Mar a Lago he grabbed my wife by the coochie with his left hand while giving a Roman salute with his right and ranting about how we still haven’t seen Obama’s birth certificate. That type of behavior I just cannot abide by.
Only reason I put the piece out was because I found coverage of it paltry and convoluted. Oddly enough, even major conservative outlets were harping on the weakest pieces of evidence against the Biden’s in what appears to be a limited hangout.
Politics are and have always been a charade. Some whoremonger sells political access to his father the Vice President. Republican voters get all amped up on scanty evidence. Democrat voters laugh and scoff at them for believing misinformation. And in a secret back room of the Lincoln memorial Ted Cruz and Chuck Schumer are forced to French kiss over a pentagram in front of the greys and reptilians that control it all. I only know of such things because I have snuck into these ceremonies before.
But that is a story for another time.
Thanks for reading,
